Winter Weather in the Midwest
Winter weather in the Midwest can be very unpredictable. There is always a way to protect your home from the cold to warm weather we do receive here in the Midwest. Since winter has hit our door steps and it goes from freezing to warming back up unpredictable things can happen to your home.
Here are a few tips and tricks you can do to keep your home as save as possible from having frozen busted pipes from the weather here in the Midwest.
• Any water lines that might be in a basement, attic, and/or crawlspace should be very well insulated
• Open cabinet/vanity doors, make sure all vents are open to allow heat in every part of your home
• Seal any openings that would allow cold air in or around pipes
• Never leave your home for more than 24 hours without shutting your water off, Shut water off and leave faucets open to release any remaining water and it will allow pressure out if there is any water remaining in your pipes. (1/8 inch crack in pipe can release up to 250 gallons of water daily)
Stay safe this winter!
