Time is of the essence when it comes to drying wet carpet. Removing water from your carpet and pad as quickly as possible reduces the chance of mold growth and secondary damages to your carpet and pad.
Using the correct water extraction equipment makes all the difference in drying carpet quickly and efficiently. In fact extraction is more important than evaporation and dehumidification in the overall drying process!!
Tests were done to support the importance of correct water extraction using 100 square yards of flooded carpet: Poor extraction will significantly slow the drying process!
Conventional carpet cleaning wand – removed 42% of the water from carpet and pad.
Stationary Water Claw – removed 75-80% of the water from carpet/pad.
Weighted Extraction – removed 90-95% of the water from carpet/pad.
Many companies unfortunately still rely on using carpet wands and only water claws to extract water. Leaving that much water behind to be evaporated requires more equipment and time that can cause drying to take up to 5-7 days.
It’s important to note that it’s not how much water is removed but how much is left behind that makes the difference in drying carpet and pad as quickly as possible.
At Sage Restoration we utilize high tech weighted extraction equipment that can get up to 95% of water from the carpet and pad. By leaving as little water as possible behind, combined with using LGR Dehumidifiers it greatly reduces the amount of drying equipment and drying time as well as the potential for secondary water damage. We are able to reduce drying time on average to 2-4 days which can potentially save insurance companies billions of dollars per year and time in the customer’s homes which equates into happier, more satisfied customers.
