Providing water mitigation on a commercial property can have more concerns and challenges than on a residential property. Sage Restoration has experience extracting water and performing dry-out services in a variety of commercial settings. In the Kansas City area, Sage Restoration has worked with many businesses from restaurants, to office buildings, big retail stores to vacant warehouse spaces. The list is endless.
One of our most recent water jobs was a local retail store that sustained major roof damage due to a tornado. The 6,000 square-foot store experienced major water damage to the structure and the thousands of contents inside of the store.
As a first responder, it is our job to address our client’s concerns. In a retail situation, the main concern is to get the affected areas dried out and to get the necessary repairs done as quickly as possible. Every day that a restaurant is not open or a hotel room can’t be rented out, is a loss of revenue for the business.
Since the storm took out the power, Sage Restoration technicians were only able to extract water on the first day. We had no idea when the power would be restored, so we brought in our own generators for enough power to run our extraction equipment. Meanwhile, we called one of our electricians so that he could set up temporary/additional power to the building so that we could keep our dry-out equipment running. The amount of electricity available is extremely crucial in a commercial setting due to the amount of equipment that is required to properly dry out an area of this size.
Once we were able to get the building and contents dried out, we sent in our crews to throw out all non-salvageable items such as food, drinks or medicines. We also inventoried all salvageable and non-salvageable contents. In our business, time is crucial. We work hard to get the businesses who trust us with their clean up back up and running as soon as possible.
