Cleaning mold in attics normally is more expensive due to the hazards of the work due the following reasons:
Many times we have limited access to the attic so this limits our ability to get equipment and makeshift flooring into the space.
We have to build flooring using plywood as balancing on joists is not safe especially when wearing cumbersome PPE and handling airless sprayers.
We also may be dealing with limited ceiling heights so we are not able to even stand up right to perform our remediation work.
We have to remove contaminated insulation and that is time consuming and expensive.
We have to work in extreme hot or cold conditions that require additional PPE and adds Labor time.
If you want to avoid mold in your attic here are several ways to help prevent mold growth in your attic:
1. Make sure you proper ventilation in your roof and soffits.
2. Make sure you don’t have too much insulation installed.
3. Make sure you don’t have air from humid areas in your home such as kitchen or bathrooms being pumped into the attic area and if so, the hoses need to lead directly to roof venting so the humid air can escape to the outside of the attic. Moist air when combined with cool or hot air from seasonal changes is a big culprit in the growth of mold.
These are just a few of the reasons why our remediation costs can be higher than if we are cleaning an unfinished basement.
Regardless of the space we are cleaning you can be sure Sage Restoration is there to get the job done right at a fair price.
